The new iFit Classic fitness tracking watch is really something. Its a watch first and foremost and it looks like a watch, however, its also a brilliant fitness tracking device.
iFit claim to have the world’s leading fitness platform, connecting their fitness devices to smartphones, treadmills, stationary bikes etc. IFit offer comprehensive information, personalised training and connection to a massive community of users – over 30million miles were logged in one year by the iFit community, wow, imagine having that support behind you! I think this could be the motivation I need so I am now an iFit ‘addict’ and loving it.
The iFit classic watch is available in two colours – obsidian black/platinum or frost white with rose gold tones. I have the black and I love it. The face has 3 fitness dials that track steps, calories, sleep and distance.
This is really handy if you feel you have had a good day but the iFit classic will let you know if you have not reached your daily activity goal to stay in shape and healthy.
In particular, I love that I can track my calories easily and directly and I can make decisions regarding food choices and exercise and the results are quickly checked and tracked.
However, I am not so fond of the vibration alerts when I am sitting down with my feet up watching telly. I do note them and respond – in time!
The ‘Move Ready’ technology is exclusive to iFit and its pretty amazing – with some other fitness trackers you have to change modes when you change the type of activity you are doing. With the iFit Classic, the modes change themselves as this clever tracker can detect which activity you are doing. This makes wearing the tracker so easy and hassle free.
I also have to add that the iFit classic is water proof and the battery charge lasts up to 7 days. I have tried very hard to find a negative point to comment on but I have failed miserably! The iFit classic really is fantastic and it would make a perfect Valentine’s day gift for your other half.
The iFit classic is available from www.nordictrack.co.uk for a really good price of £199
From ‘Technology Will Save Us’ – the DIY Speaker Kit is absolutely a super gift for any child – even the ‘bigger’ kids! It blew my mind – what a gift, its technology but also creative and requires kids to use their brains and their hands so they are utilising several skills to make something amazing.
I know my hubby would absolutely LOVE to receive this zippo flexible neck utility lighter for Valentine’s Day!
Zippo market several of their products as outdoor and BBQ essentials and that is exactly what they are. If your dad/hubby fancies himself as a bit of a DIY hero and all time ‘man with the tool for every job’ this flexible neck utility lighter will be right up his street.
As we all know, as you get older your eyesight deteriorates. During a routine visit to the optician, my husband, who wears glasses, was asked, now that he has crossed the 40 milestone, if he would like to change his glasses to bifocals. Of course, he refused! I think he was shocked to have been asked the question in the first place!
Anyway, for those of us who are just noticing a slight eyesight deterioration as we get older, it’s very handy to be able to run into Boots or even Primark and pick up a nice pair of glasses. In fact, they are so cheap, you can have a pair to match every outfit! However, what happens if you need bifocals and you don’t want the hassle of going to the optician?
Well, I have discovered the solution… Eyejusters. Yes, you read that correctly! Google it, they are an amazing new invention. They are, literally, adjustable focus reading glasses. That means, depending on what you are trying to do, you can adjust the focus of your glasses to suit. You can actually change the strength from +0.00 to +3.00 D.
How many times have you been with someone who forgot their glasses and they ask to borrow yours? (My mum does this all the time!) Well now, she can borrow them and adjust the lens so it suits her perfectly – what a cool idea.
Personally, I love sewing and crochet but as a busy mum, I generally only have time late at night and by then the light is poor so it’s harder to concentrate. I find Eyejusters great as I can adjust to suit the task or even the time of day. For someone who switches from viewing a computer screen to a TV screen throughout the day, they are the perfect solution.
The adjusting is very simple, there are 2 dials on the sides. Eyejusters are not fiddly at all and would be easily managed by just about anyone. They would make a very useful present for anyone who wears glasses, or should be wearing glasses. I should also mention that they are ideal for someone who has different sight in one eye from the other as they can be adjusted separately.
Eyejusters offer a no quibble 30 day refund policy if you find they are not for you so you can try them with peace of mind. Prices start at just £69. The glasses themselves are sturdy and well made and come in a variety of colours so there’s something to suit everyone. Try them, I think you won’t be disappointed, they’re really amazing.

A torch is a torch, blah, blah, blah, I hear you say… Well I would have been inclined to agree with you before I tried out this one. I must say I have never had a torch which shone as far away as this one.
The Nerf MEGA Mastodon Blaster is one MEAN machine. My 8yr old son has an addiction to Nerf guns – however, the more mums I talk to, it seams this is quite a ‘catching’ addiction and it can even spread to certain ‘dads’ if they are not careful!
The Thule Atmos X3 is a pretty tough phone case for £15. I have a poor reputation for taking care of my iPhone so a good reliable cover is essential. As per my husband, it never leaves my left hand and he is right! I love my phone and use it to keep in touch with my family and friends regularly so I need it to be well protected. The Thule Atmos X3 serves its purpose pretty well.
I am married 14 years and we have been using the same electric knife we received as a wedding gift. This knife still works and there is nothing wrong with it – it’s just not ‘cool’! You can imaging how delighted I was to have been selected to try one of the new Judge Electric Carving Knives – this is much smaller, therefore easier stored, handier to use, very good at it’s job and very very trendy looking.
Unlike most electric carving knives, this comes with one set of blades strong enough for all tasks – even for frozen foods. These blades slide into place easily and come away at the touch of a button. They are extremely sharp and make the knife a pleasure to use.
Sunday roasts are sliced in no time at all and the blades cut with perfect precision. I find I can slice the meat much thinner than I could with previous knife and this goes for the long thin sticks of pepperoni my daughter loves as well. I have used it for so much. I have a very good bread knife but I have also started slicing my loves with the Judge electric knife now as well simply as its faster and cuts beautiful even slices.
Judge covers this product for 2 years and for £29.40 its excellent value for money indeed – a perfect Christmas gift all round!

The JAM Double Down Mini Wireless Bluetooth Speaker is a great little speaker for out and about. Its splash proof, connects up to 10 metres, and the battery lasts up to 6 hours.
Men are so difficult to shop for at Christmas, its a nightmare for me as I look at my husband and think – ‘He has everything’!
However, I recently discovered he does not have a ‘Varta Indestructible Torch’ so that’s going into his stocking this Christmas for sure. I love the Varta products, they are built to last and are pretty ingenious.
The Varta Indestructible Torch is drop proof up to 9 metres and I love the competition they are running at the minute – people can submit their videos of just how ‘indestructible’ their Varta touch is and they have a chance to win £900 ! Visit www.builttosurvive.com for further information.
The torch itself is covered in resilient rubber which helps with shock absorption and aircraft aluminium-titanium alloy also makes this torch one of the toughest on the market. This, along with its water resistance properties give it added appeal as a gift for your outdoor man this Christmas.
‘The full range includes two headlights, a lantern and three torches. Guaranteed by VARTA for three years, the range comes in three versions for AA, AAA or C batteries. All of the torches have an energy saver mode, which can reduce the lumen output and increase battery run time by up to eight times’ (Varta)
Prices start from only £12.99 so not only is this a super gift, its very affordable.
Varta Family Power Pack.
I have a Varta power pack which my husband swiped as soon as it arrived. He loves it and its small enough to slip into his pocket when he is out and about. He says he has used it several times when his iPhone battery has let him down.
I have since then received the family power pack and this was invaluable when we were away over Halloween. The kids are well used to mummy’s trips and are prepared for a long sit in the car. With the Varta family powerpack they can keep their tablets and phones charged on the go.
I found it very useful when I was at my last concert at the SSE Arena. I was out the entire day shopping and had the power pack to charge my battery so I could take numerous photos and videos at the concert that evening. Its a fab gift for family and one charge seams to last ‘forever’ – I can highly recommend it.
