Alcudia Pins Aparthotel 2013
Do you have a young family and are afraid of ‘taking the plunge’ and booking a holiday in the sun? You are not alone. I had reservations booking somewhere I had not seen (only on-line) and taking 3 small children out of the country. However, the need for sunshine got the better of me and in August this year we travelled to Aparthotel Alcudia Pins in Majorca.
This Aparthotel was recommended to me by a travel counsellor Sharon Spiers and also several friends, and we booked 7 nights all inclusive. It was not much more to have the all inclusive option. I wanted the children to have plenty of cold drinks and ice-cream at the ready, and loved the idea of not cooking.
I want to point out at this time that all the photos in this review have been taken by myself in August this year. Other images of the aparthotel can be found on the hotels website.
My first impression was a good one. The entrance had a glass walkway up to the front doors with fish swimming underneath it! So, as you can imagine, we were there quite a while with the children!
The planting was gorgeous with palms, cactus and other exotic plants in abundance around the front of the hotel and around the pool areas. All these areas were exceptionally clean and there was always a neatly dressed maintenance man tidying up, so it stayed that way.
The pools were fabulous, my children were in ‘heaven’ for the entire week and refused to leave the hotel to go anywhere else.
We did not take part in any of the Thompson trips – the pools were simply enough entertainment for the entire week. Our youngest child is 4yrs and there was super water slides to suit his age group. There was also a large tunnel slide that my 2 girls must definitely have went down over 1,000 times – they just couldn’t get enough!
At the other side of the hotel there were lovely little shallow pools to suit young toddlers. These were under a sun canopy which I thought was a great idea. This was also a quiet area, with 4 poster sun beds on a lawn – very impressive!
For review purposes, I visited the baby room and took a photo(see below).
This huge cool room was immaculate and was fitted out the cots, toys and relaxing chairs for the mums – it simply could not have been better. My sister has young children and I will be recommending this hotel to her.
Now, the food!! WOW, I am amazed I only put on 1lb in weight! There was 2 main restaurants to visit under the all inclusive option, and we had the option of visiting another one for a meal in the evening also. We tried all three and had nothing to complain about at all – unusual for me! The selection of fresh food was fantastic and the meat and fish was cooked in front of you, so steaks could be ordered just the way you like it! I was in heaven too, even my husband agreed the food could not be better.
The beach front was the icing on the cake – I love the beach and we did visit it daily as well. It was a long sandy beach with shallow water for some distance out, so very relaxing with children. Sun loungers were provided also, and there were various activities such as pedelo boats to try.
I loved Alcudia pins and would return in a heartbeat. I couldn’t recommend it more – go see for yourself, you will have a brilliant time and so will the kids!
