The Wellington Park Hotel
Last month we had the pleasure of visiting The Wellington Park Hotel in Belfast. Myself and the kids were travelling to see ‘Little Mix’ in concert and I wanted somewhere to stay that suited families and a hotel that was close to the cities attractions. I couldn’t have selected a better situated hotel – we were 2 minutes walk from our favorite place – The Ulster Museum set in the Belfast Botanical Gardens.
I booked a family room and it was perfect.
It consisted of a double bed and two single beds, with an en-suite and it was very comfortable. All the usual amenities were present – tea/coffee, toiletries, soft fluffy towels and a phone so reception was within easy reach.
Throughout the hotel there were many places to sit and relax in a bright spacious environment.
The kids were delighted with the hotel – in particular my eldest daughter was quite ‘taken’ with the art selectively placed in prominent places. She loved this fab sculpture shown below.
There were other little areas of interest, for example, local gifts and crafts were on display, and for sale, and I had a particular interest in the coffee selection! This was quite extensive with many types and flavors offered along with a tempting selection of tray bakes.
When we arrived we were informed that a school formal was being held in the hotel. Despite this, we didn’t hear a single noise all night, thankfully. The hotel is quite well spread out so if you need a room away from the main reception/bar/ballroom area that’s easily accomplished.
After a great nights sleep we headed down for our breakfast. We had recently stayed in a somewhat luxurious hotel and I honestly noticed no difference in the breakfast spread.
The layout and choice was fantastic and simply couldn’t be beaten. We selected from a range of fresh fruit, locally sourced yogurts and cooked food.
Everything tasted fab, the younger kids were delighted with the cereal selection and I enjoyed the wholemeal breads and croissants.
Breakfast was as it should be – served in an unhurried and fairly quiet atmosphere – to give me time to wake up and absorb the coffee! We thoroughly enjoyed this meal and it set everyone up for the day ahead.
Both check in and out was straightforward and the hotel car park was literally at the door. I have no faults nor improvements to suggest to the Wellington Park. I will definitely make this one of my first choices to return to when in Belfast again and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone with kids in tow.
