London City Cruises April 2014.
My recent trip to London was fab! I don’t know where to begin but I have to emphasize that you must never visit this vibrant city without having a City Cruise on the Thames.
I choose City Cruises mainly as they seemed the safest to me – I was taking my 3 children with me and some of the other boats appeared less ‘child friendly’, I spied far too many openings and doors and I would have been tortured trying to keep the kids ‘on’ the Thames and not ‘in’ the Thames!
The entire City Cruise experience was very easy to book and I thoroughly enjoyed it. We booked our tickets online after selecting the type of cruise we felt best suited our needs. The lunch cruise was the sure winner here as the menu looked scrumptious! This cruise lasted one hour and forty five minutes so £30 per adult was excellent value.
The nearest tube stop was Tower Hill and this is right beside the Tower of London and Tower Bridge. We spent the morning sightseeing before heading for our cruise.
Boarding was simple with clear signs and a very safe gangway. The staff were helpful and, best of all, the boat was not overcrowded. We were shown to a beautifully presented table – I just adore a white table cloth, centre piece flowers and shiny cutlery so I was right at home. My hubby loved the amazing scenery, the boat had windows which gave almost a 360 degree view.
When the cruise began the kids were able to sit at the front windows and that was where they sat for the duration, apart from when they were having their lunch. My daughter said they were the nicest potatoes she ever ate – that would be the double cream I am guessing! Dessert was delicious and after which we were able to relax and enjoy the commentary.
We were told a little history of the buildings and landmarks as we passed, something I really enjoyed . I am so delighted with the photos.
The HMS Belfast is moored close to Tower Bridge, look at the fab photo my hubby took as we were moving towards this magnificent ship.
The children were thrilled with the cruise and no-one got wet – always a bonus on one of my days out on the water! City Cruises come very highly recommended my myself, my husband and the 3 children. I will definitely book again on our next vacation.
