Canary Home Wireless Security System

We have had quite a few home security products on site over the years and I have to admit none have impressed as much as the Canary system – this super home gadget will even contribute towards getting you a reduced insurance quote!

The Canary is so much more than a home security camera. It has a motion alert function, an alarm sound in event of intrusion, temperature and air quality sensors and much more.

To begin this review I want to highlight a very important feature – the Canary looks great! The design is pretty impressive, featuring a modern contemporary look that mirrors the price tag – well worth it though! It is available in silver, black and white and would suit most homes. We have ours on a little table in the corner of the room and very few notice it at all. The shape and size will lend itself to many discrete spots in your room.

If you are concerned about your children, your pets or have any reason to wish to know what exactly is going on when you are not home, the Canary could easily be placed in a room with minimal chance of comment being passed on it. I believe this to be very important and one of the reasons why this particular device rated highly with our team.

The function of the Canary is to keep you informed as to what goes on at your home when you are not there. The video footage can be recorded or you can monitor this ‘live’ via your smartphone. The camera has a brilliant lens – wide enough for excellent coverage and I can also control this from my phone, an absolute brilliant feature!

Aside from actual video footage, the Canary’s other functions, as mentioned, are pretty impressive. In particular, the temperature monitor.  You may think – ‘Who needs to know the temperature of their house?’ but this is useful if you have a pet who stays at home while the family are at work. The Canary works just as well at night as it does during the day with its automatic night vision function – yet another huge plus for this cutting edge security system.

If you want to go a step further than watching what is happening in your home, the Canary will let you listen to the events in your absence as well! For whatever reason you may want to listen to conversations – these may vary from keeping tabs on your teenagers, a babysitter, your mother-in-law!! or anyone else who crosses your door – you can certainly hear EVERY word with the Canary. The sound quality is excellent – even when listening to low voices.

The sound function works two ways. If, for example, you receive an alert from the Canary to your phone while you are at work, you check the video image and discover an intruder in your home. Simply sound the alarm – this is actually terrifyingly loud – unfortunately I tested this out on my husband who had no knowledge of the device and he ran straight out of the house in a panic!

I am not very good with new technology and usually leave the likes of setting up new TV’s, gaming devices, etc for hubby. However, I managed to set up the Canary without any frustrations – the App is simple to use and has many features I found to be pretty ‘far out’.

With many of us leading very busy lives, we need not worry about switching the Canary on and off. Once you have connected your phone to the device the Canary will switch off when you (your phone) returns home and on again when you leave the house – the team at Canary seam to have thought of everything!!

Overall, I was very impressed, as were the other members of the team. With nothing negative to report I am rating the Canary 10/10 for performance and excellent value for money as well.
