Disney On Ice Silver Anniversary Celebration.
This Easter we had the most fantastic time at the SSE Arena in Belfast. The kids and myself went to see Disney On Ice Silver Anniversary Celebration on Easter Sunday. We have been to similar shows in the past and they are a firm favourite with me. The show never fails to surprise and delight both the kids and the adults. The themes and characters change from show to show but there are a few ‘staples’ that appear every time – or the kids would riot!! Obviously the characters that appear in most of the shows are Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy and, of course, the fab crew from Frozen!
This particular show included a brilliant set from Peter Pan. The special effects were fab – everyone sat forward in their seats when the boat ‘sailed’ onto the ice and then quickly sat back when Captain Hook appeared!
The detail was so exact and well played with nothing missed. The tick tock sound preceded the appearance of the crocodile – wasn’t he fab?
My kids mouths fell open they loved this so much. All the special characters appeared and they were so realistic – Tinkerbell looked just as a fairy should, Wendy and Peter played their parts so well and there was even an appearance from the family pet – Nana!
The show continued with the familiar but unforgettable story of The Lion King. This is definitely the most emotional show on earth and I couldn’t watch it enough times!
Did I say The Lion King was my favourite? I have to correct myself and place that story in joint first along with The Little Mermaid! I loved the costumes and the shoals of fish that accompanied Ariel around the ocean scenes.
The Sea Witch was dark and very scary as she should be and the Prince – wow – words fail me! The Prince glided along the ice to the sounds of ‘Kiss the Girl’ in a half open white shirt, navy harem style pants and long black ‘pirate’ boots – he looked very well and the perfect match for Ariel of course!
The show finished with the ultimate crowd pleaser – Frozen! When Elsa appeared on high above the stage looking down at her sister the kids leaped up from their seats clapping and cheering – the place simply came alive! The songs were brilliantly accompanied by the characters and the skating was superb!
The scene where Elsa sings ‘Let It Go’ and climbs her icy staircase was accompanied by flashing lights, magical sparks and firework sounds – stunning special effects that made the show all the more enthralling!
Between part one and the final part we browsed the Disney goods on offer with nothing ‘breaking the bank’ – soft toys and figures were priced from only £8. The kids purchased popcorn and drinks and had their own special Olaf cup to take home as a momentum of yet another fab Disney experience.
What a show and an absolute pleasure to review!
