Nelsons Pure & Clear.
What do you advise a 12 year old girl to use on her face? My beautiful daughter has lovely sallow skin but its’ starting to become a little oily and a few little spots are beginning to appear. I shudder at the memory – when I was 13yrs my skin was awful!
I didn’t want to launch into creams and lotions for problem skin containing harsh ingredients, she just needed something pure and natural to clean her skin and help keep spots away. I have to admit, I would be rather fussy with keeping ‘nasties’ out of the bathroom cabinet – and avoid parabens and perfumes. I also like to see ‘dermatologically tested’ and definitely not tested on animals. So, the variety isn’t great when I go shopping!
However, Nelsons’ Pure & Clear range has ticked all the boxes with me. Its’ perfect! The packaging is beautiful, natural with just a green leaf for decoration – no grotesque images of before and after spotty teenagers!
There are 3 steps to the range and I have all 3 for my daughter. I am 100% happy with her using these on her skin as the ingredients list is super natural.
Step one, Purifying daily facial wash – an invigorating seaweed base which helps clear impurities. Tea tree, Arnica, Hypericum and Calendula acts against blemish’s. £7.15 for 125mls.
Purifying daily facial wipes are another cleansing option – also anti-blemish, and personal as to whether you prefer to use a foaming cleanser or wipes. £5.45.
Step two, Balancing moisturiser – specifically for oily skin yet gentle too. A lovely light lotion with shea butter and aloe vera. £8.20 for 125mls.
Step three, Blemish gel. I love this as it can be used on the specific areas to target blackheads and blemish’s with extra strength tea tree and other natural goodies to leave skin perfectly clear. £8.20 for 10g.
I would recommend this range for anyone, especially those who prefer a natural range. I also think it’s perfect for young girls (and boys), as it has no harsh cleansing agents and does not strip the skin of its natural oils. The products also come nicely packaged so they would make a lovely gift for someone to receive in the post!
In my opinion it is very well priced and well worth trying out – you will be sure to love it too!

Pabobo Super Nomade night light.
Small but super: The Pabobo Super Normade.
Why was this not available thirty years ago? I am certain I am not the only one who remembers pulling the bedclothes almost over their head, and looking out over the top just to watch out for the ‘bogie man’. Pabobo is the inventor of the first portable, rechargeable nightlight.
This nightlight can be cuddled all night by your child as its LED and won’t get hot, not even under the covers. The ergonomical shape ensures it is cuddly with no sharp edges or uncomfortable parts, just like teddy but better – teddy doesn’t light up and scare away ‘monsters’!
This cute little character comes in Taupe, Pink or Blue. Now, as well as being cute, he is also very clever!
He knows when to turn on and off, when its’ light and dark. How smart is that? He is also parent friendly, busy mum’s will appreciate that the charge lasts over 200 hours, so perfect for taking on holiday’s.
All Pabobo products comply with CE standards and are designed for kids, so rest assured, this is a child friendly and safe product, worth every penny at £35.00. I mean, can you put a price on a nights sleep??
Available from Mamas & Papas and Safetots.
Pampered Foods
Warburtons Escapes.
Yippee, summer and I love it. Parties, BBQ’s and lots of yummy food. As you can gather, I am a true ‘foodie’ however I am not easily impressed. There is a fine line between what tastes good and what is good for you. Imagine my delight when I discovered Warburtons eacapes!
Firstly, these contain 45% less fat that regular crisps – Impressed? Read on.
One packet contains only 6% of your daily calorie allowance, and they are baked not fried. They are also low in sugar and salt, so really and truly minimal nasties! They are suitable for vegetarians and made with natural sunflower oil and natural flavours.
Now – why am I telling you all this without getting straight to the flavour? Because these thing are so important in our society where we are tending to ‘get bigger’, regrettable but true.
Warburtons escapes are made from crispy dried pitta bread bites and flavoured naturally – a big factor with myself. Everyone by now should be aware of the dangers of artificial flavourings and the effect on children – hyperactivity, asthma, etc.
I have well and truly researched these crisps and would be 100% happy to give them to my children, and of course myself. They taste sensational, and the wide selection of flavours have something to suit everyone. So, if you are looking for a delicious snack to serve with your BBQ or for children’s parties this summer, this is the choice for you!

Touch Magic Rockin’ Guitar
Looking for a toy that’s both fun and educational? Look no further than www.leapfrogstore.co.uk. Their touch magic rockin’ guitar is suitable for ages 3 years and upwards, and I have to admit, my husband loves it as much as my son!
It plays all the old familiar songs like ‘Pop goes the weasel’ and ‘Itsy-Bitsy Spider’ and many more. It also includes percussion and special effect sounds. My son loves the ‘Applause’ as he takes a bow. What distinguishes this guitar from the rest is the unique gesture recognition. Yes, it actually works like a real guitar, so my son has discovered his ‘inner rock star’ many times! The lights are super too, lighting up in time to the music.
It is so important children have toys like this, which promote music and creativity and I have always tried to limit the time spent watching television and playing computer games! However, since this guitar has arrived, the playroom has been transformed into a ‘stage’ and the dressing-up box is out every day. I would highly recommend it, and will be purchasing another one soon (for daddy!) He connects to the online Leapfrog learning path where they have customised learning insights – yes, Leapfrog have thought of everything!
Exceptionally well priced at £19.99.
Chat & Count Smart Phone.
Just last week my mum was asking where she could buy a phone for my niece. There are lots of play phones where you lift the handle and dial the numbers, but Trinity wasn’t happy unless she had her own smart phone like mummy’s!
The Chat & Count smart phone is just that – its’ as close in appearance to a real smart phone as you could possibly get. In fact, it could pass as a real phone!
The screen lights up when you use it, and there are 25 different learning activities. These are brilliant for introducing numbers and encouraging counting, not to mention roll play – very important for development in the early years. The phone itself is super colourful, and has a host of fun animations and sing-along activities. This definitely sorted my little niece out and mummy’s I phone is now safe!
Suitable for ages 18 months and upwards for £12.99. Available from http://leapfrogstore.co.uk/

‘Getting Personal’
So, how can you give a gift that is truly ‘personal’? Try ‘GettingPersonal.co.uk’ of course! This wonderful site has an array of personalised items that would make super original gifts for both men and women.
I love the Crates! They would suit gardeners and also those who don’t fancy donning wellies and a spade but quite enjoy a nice display at the front door – like myself! The apple crates are made from sturdy pine wood and can be finished in 3 colours – Rustic Pine, Aged Oak or Blue Wash.
Now for the cool part – they can be personalised! I have had one ordered for my sister – she is a gardening fanatic and grows almost everything that can be grown in this country. Her planter has the inscription ‘Leann’s Herbs’, and I must say, she was speechless when I gave it to her. It now looks stunning at her back door with an array of parsley, thyme and rosemary oozing from it giving off a delightful mixed sent of fresh herbs. The planters can be used to display other gifts like bathroom goodies and even vegetables so do have a look on the website for lots of ideas.
The personalised apple crates are available from £29.99 and definitely worth every penny.
GettingPersonal.co.uk also offer square planters which can also be personalised with an apple motif – also made from wood! Mine looks great at the front door with No. 1 etched on the apple. It sure attracts a lot of comments and admiring glances.
The gardening range also extends to a variety of other useful and practical items. The Gardener’s Waterproof Notepad caught my eye as I have lost too many gardening notes thanks to the ‘lovely’ weather in Northern Ireland! This book is 100% waterproof – I have proved that and I wouldn’t be without it now.
GettingPersonal.co.uk have thought of everything, including a waterproof graphite pencil to go with the book. My husband loves his boat and now I have to order another one for him. So, not just for gardeners!
To me, this set is the bargain of the month for an amazing £9.99 available from http://www.gettingpersonal.co.uk/?gclid=CIWZsaK_p7gCFYPHtAod13wAsQ

Strawberry Blushes lelo gift set
E L James – who has not heard of this woman?? That’s right, everyone has. She is the author of ‘those’ books everyone has read but has never admitted it to their nearest and dearest. However, since Christian has invaded our lives, sales of the intimate kind have went through the roof!
Now, I would consider myself fairly open minded and have no problem adding the Lelo gift set to pamperedpresents for review.
The set is by no means cheap and trashy but exceptionally presented in an exquisite box and I couldn’t wait to open it.
Well, what can I say – all it was missing was Mr Grey! Don’t delay ladies (and gentlemen), buy this gift set now for your loved one as I am totally convinced it will sell out before Christmas!
The contents include the most luxurious strip of silk material, a feather duster – no, sorry, I am sure it is not for cobwebs!! plus a couples massager. To correct any misconceptions, the massager is not for tired feet at the end of a tough day…
So, will you or won’t you? All I can say is ‘Can millions of women be wrong?’ Gifts of this nature are selling out fast and I have yet to see such a classy, well presented luxurious looking box that just begs to be opened! I am truly impressed.
The set can be purchased from www.strawberryblushes.co.uk for £106.95

Ashortwalk eco programme.
Its’ summer at last and I for one have rushed off to my local garden centre and bought lots of bedding plants to fill my empty pots! I am not alone, as garden centres are very busy with people just like me. Now, I pose a question? What do you do with the plastic pots when you have so delicately re-potted your new plants? I used to store them in the garden shed until they landed at my feet every time I opened the door, something had to be done. Well, something has been done and it sure is impressive.
‘Pot to Product’ is a newly launched scheme aiming to recycle the ‘FIVE MILLION’ old plastic flower pots estimated to be resting in the sheds and greenhouses of Britain! WOW!
The old pots are recycled into new garden products and this is done within the UK. Ashortwalk is the company behind this worthwhile initiative and their website is really worth a browse. They have managed to produce super items from recycled pots and other discarded items. Their range includes outdoor clocks, a coastal range dictating the tides worldwide, and super handy birdfeeders like the one below for only £7.95.
The indoor range includes contemporary placemats, condiment sets and beautiful clocks and photo frames. I love it as its modern and suits many tastes. I have given my sister the condiment set as a ‘new home’ present and she was delighted. (£21.95)
So, if you are eco-friendly, this is the website for you. I was very impressed and will definitely be visiting this site coming up to Christmas for unusual and useful gifts.
The eco grow your own herb starter kit (£14.95).

The foot lotion (120mls) is naturally scented with orange blossom and vanilla. The set looks both impressive and expensive, but it only costs £9.99!!
I love the various tea soaks from this company, my favourite being the Vitali tea. These energising bath salts are perfect for reviving tired limbs and soothing aching muscles. Scented with Ginseng, it smells divine. Other tea salts include Tranquilitea for a calming bath and Serenitea for relaxation. These are very well priced at £4.99.

Delicious Art
This beautifully packaged ‘Crumbly butter fudge’ is simply utterley delicious. The bar is decorated with an old time painting and screams romantic. Images of a maidens from long ago are the most repeated and romantic in the world and appeal to anyone. This particular image is of Madame Moitessier by Jean-Auguste Dominique Ingres origionally painted around 1780-1867. Wow, what a gift! Absolutely stunning.
Now for the fudge – words cannot describe, so just go and buy some! They looked so tempting and didn’t last long! Definately a bar you will want to keep to yourself like I did!
Other chocolates in the range include Fine white chocolate, also well presented and with a little picture of a lady from long ago. Chocolate with mint and chocolate with ginger, all scrummy and with little romantic individual pictures, any of the selection would make a beautiful gifts.
The Crumbly butter fudge is keenly priced at £3.75. Buy from www.thenationalgallery.co.uk

Salter Slide A Weigh Scale
When these arrived in the post I thought I had received someone else’s mail! The Slide.A.Weigh electronic kitchen scales from Salter do not look like scales!!! They are definitely the scales for you if your kitchen cupboards are crammed as full as mine and you are short on space. They are absolutely tiny in comparison to my grandmas’ original Salter scales which took up half the kitchen bench! These are super small, yet they weigh up to 5kg.
‘Why slide away?’ I hear you ask. Well, the LCD display slides underneath the gloss platform so instantly almost half the size. This also makes for hygienic and easy cleaning. You like? Read on – they have an ‘aquatronic’ function, which means they also measure liquids in ml or fluid oz.
Multiple ingredients can be added to the same bowl – ie- sugar, flour, eggs thus saving on washing up – are you loving them yet? Now for the best part – I am from a family of ‘bakers’ and despite being the eldest, my cooking skills are never as impressive as my sisters. However, these scales sure look impressive and professional and in my opinion they scream ‘Hey – this girl knows what she is doing in the kitchen!’
Available from £25 from most department stores, and for the prestige they add to your homemaker image – a bargain!
